Concrete is not waterproof. Standing surface water, and/or pooling subsurface water will permeate a concrete foundation and cause foundation deterioration and moisture related issues to the sub-floor areas of a house. Water can also permeate concrete block retaining walls causing wall cracking, sinking and discoloration of the wall face.

FOUNDATION WATERPROOFING prevents water permeation. Waterproofing is applied directly to the concrete foundation and is used to stop the permeation of subsurface ground water. Normally FOUNDATION WATERPROOFING is used in conjunction with a FRENCH DRAIN SYSTEM.

Construction involves the excavation of a trench to the bottom of the foundation, dug along the length of the foundation area to be protected. The foundation is pressure washed to remove impurities and then waterproofing is applied directly to the concrete surface. Protective boards are placed against the new waterproofing to prevent damage during back fill.
